Unexpected Weekend - Good and Bad

So first of all, my camera has died. I know I can blog without pictures but pictures always make it more fun. We had an unlucky turn of events this last weekend. Friday morning I woke up with a huge pulsing pain in my abdomen. It was so bad that I called in a substitute to work for me (which, if any of you know me well, I avoid that at all costs, so it must of been bad). I woke Kyle up and he knew something was wrong. I finally was convinced that I needed to go to the instacare and was lucky enough to be one of the first patients in, which in itself is pretty amazing. So here is the good news that we weren't planning on telling til after the holidays but everyone knows now, so I thought I might as well blog it. Kyle and I are expecting. We are so excited. However with the pain I was having ,the instacare doctor thought that it might be an eptopic pregnancy and I was sent to my OB instantly. I hadn't even been in for my first appointment yet because we're only 7 weeks along but they did an ultrasound and the good news was that it wasn't eptopic but the baby was right were it was supposed to be. We even got to see the heart flutter. The ultrasound did show that my left ovary was huge, and that was what was causing the pain. I had a tumor like thing growing inside of my ovary which the doctors suspected has been there since birth but hasn't bothered me until now because my uterus started growing, due to the pregnancy, it pushed the ovary and it turned and twisted on itself causing the blood flow to the ovary to stop, hence the pain. They immediatley sent me to surgery in hopes they could save the ovary. They tried to untwist the ovary with a scope but in the end, they had to open me up, take out the ovary and take out the tumor like growth. Now you may wonder what was in it, since I've had it since birth and Kyle likes to think it was my mutant twin, because the tumor was full of hair, teeth, and other wierd like substances. Who knows what it really was but the mutant twin idea is fun to think about. I was in surgery for 4 hours and stayed overnight in the hospital. I was finally able to go home saturday night and I have had the best support. Visits from our families, flowers, etc. Kyle has been great is taking great care of me, also his mom and mine were able to stay with me for the past couple of days so he could go back to work. I'm still pretty sore, but I can move around now a little bit so I've been blessed. So there you go, We're pregnant and excited and we figured we will be due in July. There's a mouthful of our unexpected weekend.

Two Awesome Hunts

We had the opportunity to go on two great hunts last week. We took off work and headed for the mountains for 9 straight days. Our adventure started in Idaho, where Kyle and his friend Rick had deer tags for the general season. Of course right before we left it snowed like crazy and there was a foot of snow where we were at. We worked hard finding a big buck by hiking through the snow, glassing, and freezing our tushies off, but the big buck could not be found. We saw a lot of smaller deer, elk and moose. We also saw a lot of amazing country and beautiful sunsets. Although we weren't successful in the deer category it was an awesome trip and I am so lucky to have a hubby who enjoys being in the mountains as much as I do.










From Idaho, we went to Morgan to spend a day or two with the fam, my sisters and their families also joined in on the adventure. My dad and I both had deer tags for the Utah general season. We talked and played games the day before the hunt and it was a lot of fun just hanging out and playing with my nieces. Saturday morning came, and Dad, Kyle and I set off. We didn't see much in the beginning, then around 11 a.m. we saw some bucks get bedded down in some cedar trees about 1200 yards away. We knew there was a pretty nice four point in the group so Kyle and I decided to move in for a closer shot. We left Dad on the mountain to watch and make sure they didn't move. We were able to get within 320 yards where I was able to get a shot. One shot was all it took and he went down. As we got closer, we realized it was bigger than we had originally thought because of its masive head and body size. I was so excited because I had never got a "big" buck before and it was amazing to be able to share this experience with my husband and my dad close by. Dad and I have always been hunting buddies so I was glad he was there for my first Big Buck. He was a 4 point with a 26 inch spread. As you can see we had a great time on
both trips. We were only sad that we had to come back to the real world where our jobs awaited us.

A Successful Hunt!

Kyle was able to guide a good friend, Larry, on a hunt of a lifetime. Kyle and Larry, along with Larry's sons left home for over a week to find a great bull. They passed on a few elk early on in the hunt but September 17th was the lucky day when this beautiful,very symmetrical 7 by 7 walked out of the trees. It didn't take much convincing that this was the one. They had a great trip and they all had fun, I'm only sad that I had to stay behind and work. Congratulaions Larry on a great bull.

Softball Season

This year has been a little different in that Kyle is only involved in one league of softball, usually he's playing from April to October but because of his ancle injury (which by the way, needs surgery because the ligaments just aren't repairing themselves) he decided to take it easy.

50 YEARS OF MARRIAGE,

On August 22, Ma and Pa Paxman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, We had nice little open house for them and with the help of Kyle's siblings, I was able to put together a published book about their life along with the written memories that each of the kids wrote. It was a lot of work but worth it in the end. Congratulation Mom and Dad!!

Summer Harvest

So we tried our luck at a garden this year with the little space that

we have. We got a ton of zucchini and cucumbers to feed the neighborhood. We also planted squash, green peppers, and tomatoes and they have done pretty well also. We have been able to eat plenty from our harvest and its been fun. The yellow weird looking cucumbers are called Boston pickling cucumbers and Kyle thinks that I'll be able to make some dill pickles. We will see :).

Fourth of July Weekend!

We had a great fourth of July weekend doing the thing we love -camping and glassing for wildlife. It was so beautiful with everything being so green. We saw over 100 elk, went for hikes and did a little fishing. We had a wonderful time and hated leaving to come back to the "real world". We hope everyone had a wonderful fourth of July!

The Turkey Hunt

The month of May has been very busy for the both of us, especially when we spent every weekend turkey hunting. We both had tags for down south and it was so much fun and we covered a lot of ground. The first outing was awesome, we saw lots of turkeys roosting in a tree and they were gobbling like crazy. Although we weren't able to get a shot off it was fun to hear and see all that. The next time we went out. Kyle called a gobbler in and we set up and the turkey went Kyle's way and he was able to fill his tag with a great looking turkey, it had so many pretty colors in it's feathers. Well we set out one last time to get my turkey and after much walking, we just could not locate any turkeys so hopefully I have better luck next time. If any of you don't know, around our house it's hunting season all year long.

School's out, summer is here

As many of you know, I teach kindergarten and just finished my fifth year of teaching. It was a busy year but I love every minute of it (well mostly every minute). Summer is now here and I'm excited to accomplish a few goals. I recieved my Master's Degree in General Education last May so I actually have a summer where I can do what "I" want. I plan to keep myself busy by keeping up on our yardwork (we are putting in a paver patio), updating my scrapbook and lots of hiking.

Since this is all new and many of you have not yet been able to see some of our wedding pics I thought this would be a good place to start. We got married in the Salt Lake Temple on November 18, 2006. It was a perfect day and lots of fun. We went on our honeymoon to Cancun, Mexico. It was beautiful and a lot of fun.
