A SUCCESSFUL HUNT
Kyle and his awesome, huge bull.
The hunt started on Saturday, September 18th. We began seeing elk right away and lots of them but nothing was quite big enough but was so much to be in the middle of so many bugling elk. We were able to get close to many of these elk and even get it on camera (which by the way, I was filming this whole adventure and was able to get lots of good footage). Tuesday was the same story, lots of bulls and we were chasing their bugles all over the mountain side. This bull and another bull were bugling back and forth to each other when Kyle was able to cow call this bull into shooting distance. Seeing it's massive front end, it didn't take much thinking that Kyle was going to pull the trigger and he made a great shot on this beautiful creature. It is so big and Kyle couldn't have been happier. Its a 6 X 7 with an extra 3rd and we figure will score in the 370's. This bull was unique in that it is so heavy that you can't even put your hand around its front tines. What a great hunt! Good job babe!

I was so happy that I was able to be with him the whole time. It was incredible!!

My cute hubby and "Nasty". This is what we've ended up calling this bull.

This is me on the sidelines as Kyle and Dallin gutted and dressed the elk. I let them do the nasty stuff but I did help by keeping their knives sharpened at all times.
(P.S. after seeing Kyle handle the grossness of gutting an elk, I've decided he can handle changing more dirty diapers :0).

Ma Paxman held down the camp the whole time we were there. she would hang out in camp as we left every morning and night. I'm so glad she was able to come with us and celebrate in such a successful hunt. We love you.

A big thanks to Keldon. He came on most every scouting trip and stayed for the duration of the hunt. He did a lot of hiking and cruising around on his "side by side" scouting for us. Also a huge thank you to his other brothers Kraig and Kirk for feeding us great dutch oven dinners the two days they were able to be there. Also to Cory (nephew) who helped scout and pack out the elk.
(I meant to get a picture of everybody while they were there but I forgot and that makes me so sad because I would of liked a picture of everybody who helped out)

A big thanks to Kyle's buddy Dallin. He brought his trailor down and helped scout and even carried a quarter of the elk out on his back!! Even though we had a tent set up, he let us stay in his trailor and Kyle and I have both decided we could get used to the trailor life.

Carrying the bull off the mountain. I'm glad we had a lot of Kyle's friends to help out. The head alone probably weighed 100 lbs.

Packed and loaded for home. Probably the last big camping outing for me for the 2010 season. Now if spring were only here again, so we can return to the mountains. Winter is fun though because that means we'll be able to go ice fishing.

The shadow of the horns on the road, as we headed home. It was fun to see the double takes as we passed people on the road. I'm sure they were all just jealous that they didn't get as cool of a bull as Kyle did.

Taytum seeing the elk for the first time. We sure miss her when we're away. A big thanks to Grandma Pike and Aunt Koreen and family for taking care of this little one while we were able to go out and enjoy this hunt together. It will forever be a memory in my book and I had so much fun with my hubby and being able to be right there with him every step of the way.
BEAUTIFUL!Mule deer hiding in the trees.

Very pretty lake surrounded by aspen trees.

The leaves changed right before our eyes while we were there. I just love this season and the beauty that surrounded us.

RANDOM SEPTEMBER PICS
This was the first time Taytum had ever stood up in her crib. One day I went in to get her and here she was. Such a big girl. After she learned this, however, it was harder for her to take naps because she would get up but then wouldn't be able to get back down. Luckily she has figured it out and naps have resumed as usual.

Taytum has the whole crib to herself but she always chooses to sleep width wise at the end of the crib rather than length wise where she would have more room.
Everyday you will find us outside cruising around on her little bike. I'm going to miss this when winter hits and we won't be able to go outside as much. This bike also converts into a walker and she is getting pretty good at walking with it by herself.

Aww. The sweet nectar of life.

She loves books. She'll sit in front of this bookcase looking at books for at least 5 minutes. One thing about Tayters is she doesn't like to be in one place for very long, she is always on the move.

Spaghetti face

Taytum can point to various body parts now like head, nose, mouth, ears and our personal favorite, belly. Like most kids I'm sure, she has to lift her shirt to find her belly and its just cute.

Emree pushing Tayters around in her baby doll stroller. Taytum didn't seem to mind that it was way to small for her. These two cousins have fun together.

She loves talking on the phone. This is at work before her babysitter picked her up. I love to listen to her "conversations".

Taytum is already showing interest in baby dolls and would feed bottles to it, etc..

Playing in the wood chips at the playground.

Taytum's fish face. This is a new face she is pulling lately. I call it the fish face but if you see it from the side, she looks like a bird. Pretty silly.

We're getting excited for Halloween and hope everyone has a great October!
