A Marvelous March

We have had a great March though I have been frustrated with how the new blogger is set up so everything  is all messed up, and messed up on my page but this will have to do until I figure it out. 


Jazz Read-a-thon
Every year our school is involved with the Jazz Read-a-thon where the student body has to read so many minutes to win a Jazz Player with the motive to improve  reading skills.  Since it was held during the afternoon session I brought Taytum with me.  She loved all the attention she got from my students.

 
Principal Phil Armstrong introducing Jazz Player, Gordon Hayward.  I've worked with Mr. Armstrong for 9 years and he has finally decided to retire this year, he's been great to work under and we will miss him.  I'm curious to see as to what next year will bring with a new principal.

The top reader for each grade level got to throw a pie in their teachers face, I've alluded this for 9 years but this happened to be my year.  Abi was the lucky winner and without hesitation threw the pie into my face. My co-worker was holding Taytum and was clapping and happy until the pie hit my face then she freaked out but by the end of the day I convinced her it was ok and that it was funny.

Gender Reveal Party

I thought it would be fun this time around to have a gender reveal party.  I made some invitations and invited family over for dessert.  They were instructed to wear pink for a baby girl or blue for a baby boy.

From the very beginning when we asked Taytum if the baby was a sister or brother she would always say sister so with the others she is supporting the Pink Team.

Team Blue

As you can see Team Blue was highly represented.

After pictures were taken everyone was able to choose a cupcake or cake ball where upon biting the color "pink" or "blue" was hidden inside.

 Taytum doesn't care what color is inside as long as she can eat it.

And if you can't tell what color that is....ITS PINK.  We are excited to welcome another little girl into the Paxman household.  She is due the end of July.  I'm so happy that everything has gone well with this pregnancy thus far and I'm hoping that she and Taytum can be the best of friends.

One day she was playing in her room and she had found all the squirt bottle and hair brush and was giving her horsey a makeover.  She did this for a long time.  Hopefully the horse will still have hair when she's done.

This is when she finally realized I was in the room watching her.

February!!

Grandpa Mac

Sadly on February 12th, my grandpa Mac passed away due to complications of a stroke. He will be missed dearly. He always was good at telling stories about his life and put up with all of us "burrheads". I love you Grandpa.

Ogden – Floyd Tracy McFarland Jr., 85, passed away Feb. 12, 2012 of complications due to a stroke. He was born on Nov. 18, 1926 in Ogden, Utah the son of Floyd T. and Ruth E. Bair McFarland. He graduated from Ogden High in 1944.

He married Eva J. Mecham, April 17, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a member of the Rock Cliff 7th Ward.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Marine Corps. He retired in 1982 from the Ogden City Fire Dept. after 30 years of service. He also retired from Defense Depot of Ogden after 16 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Eva of Ogden; sons, Rex McFarland of So. Ogden, Kent (Nadine deceased) McFarland of Riverdale, Bruce (Janice) McFarland of West Jordan; daughter, Linda (Larry) Pike of Morgan. They have 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren (with 2 more on the way). He is also survived by his sister, LuJean Stuart and brothers-in-law, Carl Hodson of Marriott and Dee Bennett of Centerville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Marjorie Walker and Louise Hodson; brothers-in-law, Jim Walker and Earl Stuart; step-mother, Christina McFarland; step-sister, Margaret Bennett and daughter-in-law, Nadine McFarland.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Friends may call on Thursday, February 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment in the Milton Cemetery in Morgan County.

Valentines Day!
After I got home from work and after Taytum's nap we started preparing our Valentines Day dinner. While I was getting the dough made she was marshmallow painting a plate for what would become a heart crown.

Then she helped make our pizza dough into a heart. Don't judge my poorly formed heart, I am no Betty Crocker.

Then we made some dessert. A brownie with whipping cream and strawberries. Delish.When Dad got home from work we were ready with pizza, dessert and fun.

I got Taytum a couple of valentines day books and Kyle some chocolate.My little valentines day monkey.

Happy Birthday to Me!!

I told Kyle that the only thing I wanted for my birthday was to not have to plan or cook dinner. He came through with a gourmet dinner of Prime Rib and Halibut steaks. We finished it off with ice cream later. He even arranged for Taytum to go play at grandmas so I wasn't spending the whole meal trying to get her to eat. It was a good day.

Snow! Snow! Snow!
It is now February and it finally snowed enough to go out and really play in the snow. We played for a good 45 minutes after work and she loved every minute of it. Below is her new pose every time I pull out the camera.Getting her hands in the snow.Snowball Fight!! She thought it was so funny to throw snow at me and just giggled.

I do believe she likes playing in the snow!

We finally got to make a snowman and here she is getting the carrot nose on. I've been wanting enough snow to do this with her for a long time so I'm glad we at least got one good day of snow this winter.

I just love how this picture turned out, I just love this little snow martian.I don't know what kind of pose this is but it was funny.I was trying to show her how to do a snow angel but she enjoyed rolling around in it more.

I think this was on Presidents day and wanted to let her try something new so we did color mixing in milk. It entertained her for awhile.

Ice Fishing at Starvation Reservoir

During the Christmas break we just had to go ice fishing and since Travis has all the equipment he took us fishing this day. It was beautiful and great!

It was a beautiful day and the ice was so clear. The ice shifted around a lot this day which always gives you a leery feeling.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day
For the holiday day off of work, I decided to take Taytum swimming at the legacy center in Lehi. I called my sister and told her to meet us there and we had a great time. We spent most of our time in the toddler area and the lazy river. She went down the little slide a couple of times by herself but once she got a face full of water she was too scared so I had to go with her every time but we had fun.

Cute little munchkin. She did great playing in the water today. I wasn't able to snap to many pictures because I was afraid of the camera getting wet.After I got her dressed she had to try getting in the lockers and played in them for a bit.

Peek a Boo!!

Well her shirt says it all..... WE ARE EXPECTING another little one the last part of July!! We are so excited. The first trimester was a lot harder this go around with a lot more sickness and pains but we made it through and hopefully the rest of the pregnancy goes more smoothly.

MMMM, delicious. Delicious is one of her new words that she always says when she's eating, its pretty funny. When ever I pull out the mixer she always comes a running wanting to help.

Yes, it is January and we still have leaf piles that need to be picked up. Crazy that we have had no substantial snow and have yet to to try out the new snow suit I had bought before the winter season.

So our school had their Jazz Reading kickoff and they needed a picture of the teachers reading so I snapped this picture using the self timer and I just love how big her eyes got.
